Two Dutch men and electronic music from the early...
I’m quite shocked that I’ve never discovered this before. But I’m glad that I have anyway. What I am talking about is the mysterious and warped works of two men who worked in the Dutch section of the Philips research department. Or as they call it in Dutch, the Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium.
What does this have to do with music? It begins with two men who worked there. Dick...

Going to this convention on Saturday called D-Con.
I don’t know why, since I’m kinda over anime and games.
It’s free and I’m bored.
D-CON? LIKE DEACON? LIKE DEACON BLUE?

Stuff that's on my iPod right now
If I lost my iPod I would probably kill myself or something. It is the only thing that keeps me sane right now. It’s a bit sad, I know, but such is my attachment to things that I should spend less time on - namely, music. I’m not going through all my music, but the ones that’s on heavy rotation right now.
I have Julia Holter (Julia Holter) on my iPod who I’ve been saying...

Julia Holter mix on Soundcloud →
Brilliant mix by Julia Holter, my new favourite musician. Very ambient, and it’s all about field recordings than actual music. You might call it rubbish, but it really isn’t - it’s about elevating everyday things into an art form of sorts.

One of my online friends is determined to get me down to London for the Expo.
You know, I’m pretty tempted. Not sure what I’d say to my parents though. It’s not like anyone else I know would be interested in going to Comicon (ew video games and comics). So I couldn’t use that excuse.
I wonder…

The Hong Kong Chief Executive debate is full of hilarity. I haven’t seen all of it, but just read this snippet from the Wall Street Journal:
When asked which of the other two candidates he’d vote for, if forced to choose, Mr. Ho paused. “Both are unacceptable,” he said. “If I really have to make a choice [between them], that’s like putting a gun to my head. And I’d say, ‘Shoot.’”

A valid point on band interviews
You suffer from Lykke Li syndrome, which means you sound ridiculous in all of your interviews. Have you heard or read some of the things she says? It’s hilarious. “I wrote that song when I was on mushrooms in the forest and everything felt so dark and cold. I would just wander around Los Angeles like a ghost. I would read Ginsberg and just fade away…” Don’t read interviews with her because...

Colin Campbell x: The Price of Whitney Houston →
colincampbellx:
I read a tweet this morning that has bothered me all day. Apple (UK) has increased the price of Whitney Houston’s Greatest Hits from 5 pounds to 8 pounds. The person who tweeted this used one sarcastic word to sum up his feelings - “classy”.
Thinking on whoever decided to hike the price of…

Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!
citationneeded:
In 1982, while still a castmember, Eddie Murphy was asked to host the show in place of his 48 Hrs. co-star, Nick Nolte. Murphy altered the line to “Live from New York, it’s the Eddie Murphy Show!” While it was probably an accurate depiction of the state of the show at the time, the other castmembers were nonetheless annoyed by this.

What I'm listening to right now
Because you clearly give two shits about what I’m listening to. I’ll try to make this as pretentious as possible by using similes and relating it to coal mines and whatnot.
Hooray for Earth is really good, because their latest album (True Loves) is like everything I want in half-decent electronic music while at the same time being slightly difference because they use guitars. How neat...

Going back and listening to Nine Inch Nails again - whom I was depressingly really into a few years ago (especially when I was sick and I played Year Zero back to back for weeks). I now feel like I have the intestinal fortitude to get the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack.

So WIkipedia is down for 24 hours (well, 23.5 hours as of now). This means if I have an urge to know everything there is about the 1960 Danish rugby union, or the intricacies of grasshopper mating, there’s no one-stop website with all that information in one handy place, meaning I have to do some actual fucking research. And why would I do that? Fucking SOPA.

Black Mirror - 15 Million Merits
Once again, Charlie Brooker writes something that everyone is complaining about, which is the depressing nature of modern society. This time, talent shows are the target in the war on culture. You know, the ones where three assholes criticise you or praise you and then you end up on the Royal Variety Performance and you sell out like a completely fucking piece of shit that you are.
The story is...

Black Mirror - The National Anthem
So I watched Black Mirror’s first episode. It’s written by Charlie Brooker who is one of those people who really hates things. So you know it’s a lighthearted, charming television programme on the most happy of channels (I’m kidding, it’s cynical and sad and on Channel 4). The idea that satire has to be funny only shows that most people don’t know what...
